Benson Lagat and his wife Joyce Chebii have always worked to ensure they own rental houses.Benson Lagat and his wife Joyce Chebii reported the matter to Rongai OCPD Wilberforce Sicharani. How was the Nakuru couple robbed The couple decided to make their dream a reality and went to a bank in Nakuru where they withdrew KSh 700, 000. They had planned to use the money to buy raw materials for their lifelong project of owning rental houses. “We withdrew money around 1pm because the queue was a bit long. We checked the vehicles; it wasn’t too fully packed, so I suggested that instead of waiting, let’s go and board another matatu,” said Chebii. She explained that they alighted at the junction in Sobea and took a boda boda home. She was carrying the bigger portion of the cash in her handbag while her husband had KSh 10,000 in his pocket. It was a distance from the junction when they were stopped by a gang of five men who threatened to kill them. “We came about 3km from Sobea when a car approached us from the front, and they said, “Get off!” So, we alighted. They told us to lie down, threatening to kill us. I asked, “Why do you want to kill us?” and they had guns. There were around five people. Consequently, my husband was forced into the car,” she narrated.
