Babu Owino Demands to Be Addressed by His Doctorate Title: “Don’t Forget that Doctor”

Embakasi East Member of Parliament has always been proud of his academic achievements. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino makes his acceptance speech at Weldios University in Benin. The lawmaker has always endeavoured to show he is not a slouch in academics, parading his four degrees. Babu holds a degree in Actuarial Science and a law degree with honours while he also advanced his studies to acquire a Masters degree in Architectural Science and a Masters degree in law.  How was Babu offended by James Katule During a recent engagement between the Committee on Budget & Appropriations Committee and the Commission on Revenue Allocation, Babu took after the Commission CEO James Katule failed to acknowledge his Doctorate. While responding to Babu’s sentiments, Katule failed to mention the word ‘Doctor’ before his name, prompting the lawmaker to alert the house. He sought the indulgence of the committee chairperson, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, before asking the CRA secretary not to forget the prefix, albeit an honorary degree. “Chair, point of information, its doctor. Don’t forget doctor please,” he said. Katule issued an apology to the lawmaker before continuing with his presentation. Subscribe to watch new videos How did Babu acquire a doctorate degree The outspoken lawmaker was awarded an honorary degree from Weldios University in Benin for his political leadership. In his acceptance speech, the MP thanked God for the title bestowed on him by the university after a rigorous selection process. “Thanks to the Almighty God for my Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Leadership from Weldios University in Benin Republic. I’m officially Dr.Babu Owino. To this far the Lord God has brought us. Thanks to Benin Republic for the recognition and to all Kenyans for your support and prayers,” he said. The Weldios Selection Committee settled on the youthful MP after nomination and careful evaluation and scrutiny of his profile, antecedence, and contributions to society. How did Babu help needy orphan from Nandi? Separately, Nicklaus Kiprotich scored an impressive 424 in the KCPE examination and was called to Kapsabet Boys High School. However, the orphaned boy’s aunt, Nancy Jepkorir, could not afford his fees and appealed for help. Jepkorir shared Kiprotich’s story with TUKO.co.ke, and Babu offered to help him. Jepkorir disclosed that Kiprotich, who dreams of becoming a lawyer, was orphaned when two years old.
