Wamuchomba Chides Ruto over His Pledge to Provide Free Diapers for New Mothers: "Just Like El Nino"

What William Ruto promised mothers during campaigns Ahead of the 2022 presidential election, Ruto promised to provide nursing mothers with a free three-month supply of diapers should he be elected president.  “Our proposal as Kenya Kwanza is to make a part of the charter to provide pre-and post-natal care to all mothers and children, and mothers will be supplied with diapers for the first three months after birth under the NHIF,” Ruto said. Taking to her social media page, Wamuchomba questioned why the Kenya Kwanza administration has yet to implement its pledge to women despite being in power for almost a year. Wamuchomba sarcastically directed her question to Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, who was present when Ruto was making the pledge. According to the outspoken lawmakers, many mothers are expected to give birth in December, but there is no hope of Ruto's promise being actualized. "Dear my friend CS Aisha Jumwa, you are the only approachable minister who can easily answer on behalf of Women of Kenya; You stood right behind this promise. How long should we wait? December babies are coming, just like Elinino, unexpectedly," Wamuchomba said.
