Kenyan Man Shows Hidden KSh 100k Speaker Commonly Targeted by Thieves in Mazda CX5 Models
Why do thieves target Mazda CX5? In a viral car review, Vidinyo disclosed that CX-5's high-performance trunk subwoofer is a lucrative target for thieves as it is easy to access. "This speaker is the most stolen item in the CX-5. There must be a trunk subwoofer if your CX-5 has the front drive and passenger side speakers. It is stolen mainly at the port, car dealer, mechanic or carwash. “This is because it is held in place by a single crew and two latches. Be vigilant. When at a car wash, carry your spanner. Once stolen, a replacement costs, at least, KSh100,000 minus shipping," he said. The Bose subwoofer is in a custom-engineered enclosure, mounted in the spare tyre wheel well. "As long as you see Bose on your door speaker, it came with the SUB. From my experience, Japanese people don’t lie or short-change you," he added. According to Mazda, the speakers were designed and engineered specifically for the unique cabin acoustics of the CX-5. "The goal was to make the listeners feel like they’re in the front row of a concert, able to listen to every pulse or rhythm as an experience rather than a noise," reads an excerpt from Mazda's website. The comments on Vidinyo's post told it all: @Joseh Ongus: "Add harrier JBL to that list." @sammie: "Mine was stolen. That's why I wonder what is supposed to be there." @Box life: "Bose is very expensive and quality." @Rungunyeusi: "Then mine was stolen at the port. I saw the hole, and I thought it was a decoration.” @Riçhąrð Láiç: "Bose speakers are among the most expensive in the world."
