Kakamega Student Recalls Betting with School Fees: "KSh 20k Iliogelea Maji"

The university student said he had been betting since he was a teenager and had made bad, regrettable decisions. I used to bet with as little as KSh 100 and get like KSh 40 in return. But that escalated as years went by and as my greed continued. I did not know it would destroy my life and relationships with friends and family. I was doing it for fun, just like my peers," he narrated. The Kakamega man said his lust to win more consumed him, and he would even borrow money from friends and family to bet. "When someone wants money, they can be compelling, so I would tell my friends I would pay them back with interest, but I was never lucky. I broke many relationships and friendships because of my betting lifestyle. I even bet on school fees, around KSh 20,000, but I lost. I cannot explain the pain, the shock, and the depression. It was out of this world," he said. Betting on school fees In a similar story, a Kenyan university student addicted to betting claimed he lost his school fees. The second-year university student took to social media to share his addiction to betting, which saw him lose many resources. The desperate young man said he had been betting since Class Eight and struggled to leave the wasteful habit. Kenyans on social media expressed mixed reactions, as some offered help while others made fun of it.
