Eastern UDA Leaders Hatch Superior Plan To Clinch Party Leadership Positions in December Elections

 

Ukambani UDA MPs The Ukambani MPs are leaving nothing to chance, putting their differences and interests aside to ensure they get at least a powerful position in President William Ruto's party. TUKO.co.ke found out that the region's legislators are explicitly targeting the National Organising position in UDA. Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai intimated to TUKO.co.ke that the region was sealing all its plans and working as a coalition to ensure they win some key party positions. He disclosed that they have agreed on campaigning for and popularising Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, alias Kawaya, for the National Organising Secretary position in the president's party. Who is UDA National Organising Secretary? "We launched a spirited campaign for Kawaya to take over as UDA National Organising Secretary and other leaders from this region to win other important positions," said Mbai, eyeing being the party's chairman in Kitui county. According to Mbai, the coalition extends beyond Ukambani and will include UDA counterparts in Embu and Meru counties. Speaking at a UDA party grassroots sensitisation session at Katoloni Seminary Hall in Machakos on Friday, November 17, Mbai stated that Kawaya was best suited for the position, having served as the party's organising secretary in an acting capacity. "I am leading the campaign to ensure we get what we are well-suited for. I'll reach out to Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who is vying for the National Chairperson position for a possible collaboration between Ukambani, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru counties," explained Mbai. Cicily Mbarire eyeing UDA National Chairperson position In return for a favour, Mbai said, Ukambani UDA members will champion Mbarire's chairmanship. "This way, it will be a sustained effort to guarantee the Ukambani region of the National Organising Secretary position currently held by my brother Kawaya, although in an acting capacity," Mbai continued. Kaway, who spoke during the sensitisation and training meeting at Katoloni, appealed to his backyard counterparts to back his bid.  He also thanked Ruto for offering appointments to many individuals from the Ukambani region. He urged the locals to embrace UDA as a party with their interests. The legislator observed that the party's growth and strong representation in the area would only bring more privileges to the people. Other speakers rooted for the Machakos senatorial aspirant in the 2022 elections under UDA Kyatha Mbaluka to get appointed in Kenya Kwanza's administration. The politician is eyeing the UDA chairperson position in Machakos county. He proactively campaigned for the party that clinched the presidency under the Kenya Kwanza coalition. Mbaluka called on the Kenya Kwanza government to deliver the promises it pledged to the electorate, making it easier for those aspiring for various seats under its ticket to resonate with the voters and stand the best chance to be elected. The party elections will be conducted online starting on December 9, 2023. Membership registration is achievable by dialing *509#  This comes even as Mt. Kenya UDA politicians push for one of their own to be the party's secretary general instead of the current office holder Cleophas Malala.
