Wako: Election servers should be accessible after elections

Former Attorney General Amos Wako now wants Parliament to review electoral laws to make the servers automatically opened and accessible to all Kenyans immediately after elections.

While making submissions before the National Dialogue Committee, the former Busia Senator also called for the involvement of the opposition political parties in the formation of the electoral commission to enhance transparency in elections.

Wako said there is a need for Kenya’s electoral system to borrow from historical best practices to avoid election petitions.

Wako is proposing that the top three political parties have representation in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The former Attorney General also recommended the enactment of a law that will ensure election servers are automatically opened and accessible to Kenyans immediately after elections.

He also wants a national consultation on the economic crisis to be convened to develop solutions for lowering cost of living.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua also appeared before the National Dialogue committee to defend his proposal to have Kitui County split into Mwingi and Kitui counties.

Azimio One Kenya coalition party and the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance are expected to make submissions on Tuesday.   BY KBC NEWS
