‘The writing is on the wall for non-performing CSs’ – Cherargei says after Cabinet reshuffle

 

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has expressed his confidence in President William Ruto's inaugural Cabinet reshuffle terming it as well-balanced and efficient.

In a statement on his X account, formerly Twitter, Cherargei emphasized the necessity of these changes, saying they are based on performance.

"The 1st cabinet reshuffle by H.E Dr Ruto, the appointment of the ambassadors and appointment of Government spokesperson. The changes have balanced the regions and ensured for the first time in Kenya PwDs are now part of the government in senior positions," he stated further warning that the writing is on the wall for non performing CSs.

"The underlying changes are necessitated by performance. The writing is on the wall for the non-performing cabinet secretaries and those who perpetuate corruption and lethargy in their ministries," Cherargei added.

Ruto's inaugural cabinet reshuffle

Key highlights of President Ruto's cabinet reshuffle include the reassignment of Moses Kuria, formerly Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance & Delivery Management. Rebecca Miano, previously the CS for the East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development, has been appointed to replace Kuria.

The Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Ministry was also affected with CS Alice Wahome moved to the Ministry of Lands, previously led by Zacharia Mwangi Njeru, who has now been appointed to head the Water docket.

President Ruto's reshuffle also expanded the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, which is headed by Musalia Mudavadi, to include the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, previously under Alfred Mutua's leadership.

Mutua has been reassigned to the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, which has been renamed the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. Peninah Malonza, who formerly led the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, will now head the Ministry of East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development.

The President also introduced a new ministry, the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage, which will be led by Aisha Jumwa.

Aisha Jumwa previously held the Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action docket.

Additionally, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts, and Sports has undergone reconstitution and has been renamed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Ababu Namwamba will continue to serve as the head of this ministry.   BY K24 NEWS
