The operation continues, EACC says after arresting four corrupt officers
Four Traffic Police Officers were arrested along the busy Thika-Garissa Highway for extorting money from motorists.
The four; Deborah Ngila (Deputy Base Commander), Rosemary Nyokabi, Robert Kabiru and Christine Chebon were nabbed by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for soliciting bribes.
“As part of ongoing initiatives to tame traffic corruption, EACC arrested 4 police officers extorting money from motorists on Thika-Garissa Highway,” said EACC through a statement.
In Kisumu, the anti-corruption agency also arrested EACC Inspector of Police Joash Rotich Koriese of Kisumu Central Police Station who had demanded Ksh 500,000 million bribe in order to withdraw charges against a transporter and release detained goods.
According to EACC, Rotich Koriese attempted to resist arrest by EACC officers.
EACC urged motorists to comply with all traffic laws and regulations and report any cases of bribe demands to EACC through their Toll Free Line 1551. BY KBC NEWS
