Rigathi Gachagua Denies Strained Relationship with William Ruto: "We Are Joined at The Hip"
The corridors of power have been awash in the last few weeks with claims that all is not well between the two United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leaders. During the UDA National Women Congress meeting on Friday, October 13, at the Bomas of Kenya, Gachagua said the Kenya Kwanza administration is strong. Gachagua said the alleged rift between him and his boss, Ruto, was a creation of people he said were in denial since they never gave Ruto a chance of winning the 2022 presidential polls and leading the country. "The government of the Republic of Kenya, under the able leadership of President William Ruto, is one, solid and very stable. There can never be any division or any conflict; that is a creation of people who are still living in denial. There are many people who gave Ruto no chance and are now envious that he is succeeding," he declared. The second in command claimed Ruto had become loved by the international community and was on the right path to transforming Kenya. "He has become a darling of the international community, here is progressing on the economic transformation of this Republic," he added. Why Ruto-Gachagua can never fall out The DP further observed that his relationship with Ruto goes beyond the country's presidency. Gachagua revealed that his friendship with Ruto spans over 20 years, urging their supporters to relax and dismiss the claims. "So they want to imagine that there can be a problem; there will be none. The President and I are joined together at the hip, and an ideology; we share an ideology. Ruto and I have been friends for over 20 years. Our friendship surpasses the Presidency. So tungetaka kuwaambia mrelax," he stated. Gachagua stated that Ruto ratifying the resolutions made from the Cabinet meeting he chaired was another proof that their relationship had not soured. Ruto rubbishes Gachagua's 'shareholding' remarks Earlier, Ruto subtly differed with Gachagua over the shareholding remarks the latter has been making in public gatherings.
