PS Raymond Omollo Fulfilled after Building Kisumu Widow Decent House: "Positive Change"

 

PS Raymond Omollo praised for building widow house Awuor, who was living in a grass-thatched house, could not hide her joy after being gifted the house. Through the Nyanza Widows Empowerment programme by Omollo, her house was upgraded after she shared her plight during a past widow's meeting in the area. Omollo's team, which transversed between the Nyanza counties, then built a house for Awuor. Margaret Awuor while addressing fellow widows during a past meeting in Seme, Kisumu county. Victor Ayugi, serving as the programme coordinator on behalf of Omollo, handed over the new house to the 67-year-old woman from Kanyadwera, Seme Constituency. The widow shed tears of joy as she sang and danced with fellow widows who were present at her house during the handover ceremony. Widows from Kisumu county join Margaret Awuor in celebrating after she was gifted a new house. . A local priest, Reverend John Otieno, blessed Awuor's home and prayed for her before attending a meeting for the constituency's widows. Source: UGC Speaking after handing over the house to the elderly widow, "I am happy to have been part of this initiative. Awuor will now have a stable place to call home and live without fear of a house collapsing on her," Ayugi said.  Ayugi also emphasised the importance of girl-child education and asked the community to help reduce the rate of teenage pregnancies. "Widows in the region who have established investment groups also shared their happiness in forming these groups, which have significantly improved their daily lives and allowed them to invest in their families' futures," Ayugi added. The PS has been instrumental in developing social development programmes in Nyanza that uplift widows and children within the community. In June, a 73-year-old granny from Kabondo Kasipul, Homa Bay County, was all smiles after Omollo put a decent roof over her head and her family. He also built her a latrine. Dorcas Achieng Osewe, a widow, lost some of her children and remained with one, but he is mentally challenged. She was left with several grandchildren she was looking after. The granny was living in a small mud house with rusted iron sheets and was gifted a new home after her plight was highlighted by Ayugi. He disclosed that the PS gave out cash, which was used to build the grandmother's house from the foundation to the roof. "She was extremely happy after she was handed over the house.The women from the FEMA group helped a lot during the construction of the house," he said. Omollo has been passionate about helping needy people in society and helping widows, orphans, and the elderly in his home county and other counties, including Kisumu. BY TUKO NEWS
