Police recover pistol from building under construction in Mlolongo

Police in Mlolongo have recovered a pistol from a building under construction.

The officers said they had launched a manhunt for suspects following the recovery.

Police said the pistol male Retay Falcoon was loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition.

"NPS wishes to appreciate members of the public for their cooperation that led to this successful recovery," the National Police Service said in a statement.

"We appeal to anyone with information that may aid in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or report through our toll-free numbers 999, 112, 911 or #FichuakwaDCI 0800722203."

The incident comes days after police also recovered another pistol that was found abandoned in the men’s toilet of a popular restaurant in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

A reveller believed to be a licensed gun holder had gone to the restaurant and left the weapon there on Sunday afternoon.

The reveller went to the toilet and placed the Steyr C9-A2 MF pistol with 16 bullets on the cistern and forgot it after his mission therein, police said.

According to police, the weapon was discovered minutes after the owner had left the toilet and restaurant.

Witnesses said the discovery caused panic before police arrived and picked it up.

A manager at the restaurant called the police who responded there and took it for safekeeping.   BY THE STAR
