Nairobi Man Who Scored High KCPE, KCSE Marks Frustrated after Failing to Get Job: "Imekataa Kufunga"

The adage that education is the key to success does not make sense to a brilliant man from Dagoretti anymore. John Muuru after graduating from Kenyatta University. Photo: John Muuru. Source: UGC Scored B+ at Upperhill High School Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, John Muuru said his single mum, Jane Supuu, had done everything to give him a good education, but it wasn't paying off. "I studied at New Highlight Primary School in Dagoretti and scored 394 marks in Kenya Certificate of primary Education (KCPE); I then proceeded to Upperhill High School where I scored a B+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams," he revealed about his education. "Kenyatta University called me to study Agricultural Resource Management and four years later, I graduated with flying colours," he continued. Although he has left a trail of brilliant academic credentials, Muuru is still struggling to find a job, just like millions of other creative Kenyans. "The struggle to get employed is real and during the COVID-19 times, my mum, a Mugithi artiste, was suddenly left jobless because of the lockdown," he said. Currently, I'm still applying for jobs but since I know the struggles of tarmacking, Iam still open to being an employer," he said. Although it would be great to get a job, Muuru is also open to having a thriving business and creating opportunities for his fellow youth; he hopes to own a company since he boasts value addition skills. "The yoghurt business is profitable even if I'm doing it on a small scale just to sustain myself. It gives 100% profit. I would like to go big because it will create opportunities for others," he shared. "I also charge KSh 5000 for processing lessons," he added.   BY TUKO NEWS
