LSK Denies Claims Man Who Masqueraded As Lawyer Won 26 Cases: "No Factual Basis"
In a statement, LSK President Eric Theuri denied claims that the man in question, Brian Mwenda Ntwiga won 26 cases in different courts across the country. "Allegations that the masquerader Brian Mwenda won 26 cases is false and misleading. There is no factual basis to support the misleading claims. Efforts to apprehend him are in high gear and we are optimistic that he will be brought to book," Theuri posted on his official X account. TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that Theuri revealed circumstances under which Ntwiga accused of practising law illegally got into the LSK system. In a statement on Friday, October 13, Theuri said the man, identified as Brian Mwenda, stole the identity of Brian Mwenda Ntwiga, a qualified advocate. The LSK president detailed how the suspect infiltrated their systems and started practising law without having the necessary papers. How Brian Mwenda got into LSK portal According to Theuri, the suspect contacted LSK, expressing difficulties accessing his portal account. After receiving his complaint, the LSK IT team removed Ntwiga's email address and updated the account with Mwenda's, granting him access to the system. The LSK boss said that the imposter took full control of the real advocate's account, changed his profile picture and workplace, and paid for the certificate. "Upon being allowed access to the account, he took control of the portal and changed his profile picture and the workplace and applied and paid for the practicing certificate," Theuri said. Why Brian Mwenda is in hot water However, the suspect could not pay for a practising certificate since he was required to provide documents, including the certificate of business incorporation, which he did not have. Investigations by LSK were prompted after Ntwiga wanted to apply for a practising certificate. "It was only until sometime in September 2023 when he attempted to log in to the system and activate his profile with the intention of applying for his practising certificate that he realised he could not access his LSK portal," he added.
