KRA Announces Vacancies for Graduate Trainees: "Apply by October 29"

Successful candidates will join the agency's Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme. They will be tasked with administrating relevant tax and customs laws and enforcing compliance. In a notice, KRA noted that the programme targets university graduates aged 28 years and below. "The Authority seeks to recruit young Kenyans of high integrity to join its Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme. The programme targets university graduates from recognised universities and is designed to develop future tax administration experts," the principal revenue collector stated.  What are the qualifications for graduate trainees? Besides being graduates, applicants should have a mean grade of at least C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent with a minimum of C+ in English and Mathematics. Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Applicants must also submit a valid certificate of good conduct, copies of the KRA PIN certificate, National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), National Social Security Fund (NSS)F and identity cards. "All applications must be submitted online by Sunday, October 29, 2023," KRA said. What's KRA's plan to ensure tax compliance? In September, KRA deployed over 1,400 officers with paramilitary training to the field and markets to facilitate tax compliance. The officers completed a two-month training course at the Recruits Training College in Eldoret and qualified as revenue service assistants. In a notice, KRA said revenue service assistants would register businesses online and verify taxpayers’ details. "Feel free to approach them, say hello, and let them know how they can assist you," the taxman stated. KRA hopes to collect KSh 2.7 trillion in tax revenue in the 2023/2024 financial year after implementing the Finance Act 2023, which introduced a raft of taxes.   BY TUKO NEWS
