Installation Of CCTV In Nakuru

 

The County Government of Nakuru has taken a remarkable step towards upscaling the security of the city through the installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the crucial intersections of the City’s Central Business District (CBD), Moi Junction, and Mburu Gichua roundabout.

According to the City Manager, Mr. Gitau Thabanja, the advanced cameras have greatly enhanced the city’s security by providing a 24-hour monitoring service that ensures the safety of all citizens and businesses.

Speaking Friday morning at the county offices Thabanja said the high-resolution cameras provide a clear view of the commercial precincts, capturing footage of day-to-day activities.

The city manager emphasized that the installation of the state-of-the-art surveillance system to monitor and identify any potential threats is one of Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to guarantee security to all.

Thabanja added that the initiative has significantly reduced criminal incidents and boosted economic activities making it an enviable feat for other cities to emulate, and reduce the negative impact of high crime rates in cities and towns.

He urged wananchi to propose ideal designated points for installation of more security surveillance cameras.

In the recent past, there has been an escalation of insecurity in the city with the sad scenario being attributed to an infamous gang dubbed ‘confirm’. The gang has caused a mayhem particularly in the informal settlement areas of the city.

However, last year the national government came to the rescue of the residents when patrols were heightened and a number were arrested with knives, fake guns, and an assorted number of stolen items including motorbikes.

Lately however, there has been an escalation of attacks, and snatching of valuable items from wananchi, especially in the early mornings and evenings.     BY KNA
