Ichung'wah terms critics of new health scheme as insincere
National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah has castigated those opposed to the new health plan being introduced by the government.
Ichung'wah termed the particular individuals spreading falsehoods about the scheme as insincere.
He said it is unfortunate that they are not explaining how Kenyans at the bottom of the pyramid are going to benefit from it.
“I have even some of them on TV saying the Ruto taxes, but they are not telling us how mama mbogas, bodaboda operators or indigents who used to pay Sh500 monthly for NHIF that they will now have to part with only Sh300,” he said.
Ichung’wah spoke during a church service at the Revival Sanctuary of Glory in Riruta Satellite, Dagoretti South.
President William Ruto was also in attendance.
The new changes set to be implemented are contained in the four health Bills signed into law by President William Ruto Thursday last week.
The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) will now be restructured.
A new Social Health Authority Fund that will have the Primary Healthcare Fund, the Social Health Insurance Fund and the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund will be created.
According to the Kikuyu Town MP, the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on delivering Universal Health Coverage which failed during the previous administration hence the strategy.
The legislator told the President to ignore the naysayers and continue delivering according to his plan.
"We now have an actual UHC which has been elusive. Your, excellency we want to encourage you to remain focused...when you see someone attacking you is because satan has not rested," he said.
Ruto on his part vowed to remain focused. BY THE STAR
