Girl,7 dies while playing with popped birthday balloons

A Tennessee mother whose daughter died days after her seventh birthday now alleges she died from popping balloons.

Channa Kelly said Alexandra was popping her birthday balloons with scissors when she left the room to lie down.

But when she returned to the living room, she found Alexandra face down with a balloon over her head.

Taking to her socials to announce the demise of her daughter, Channa asked her fans to pray for her

"Yesterday every mother's worst nightmare came true for me. My sweet daughter Alex tragically passed away. Please remember my family and me during the most difficult time of our lives. Thank you."

The mother shared the devastating news to help raise awareness.

Alexandra Hope Kelly died last Sunday, according to her mother Channa Kelly. She had just turned 7 years old on Sept. 22.

“She was wonderful, so vivacious and independent,” Channa Kelly said. “She loved swimming. She was absolutely amazing, just the sweetest little girl with a big heart.

I want people to know so they can be aware,” Channa Kelly said.

Adding

“That’s what took my baby, it was her birthday balloon. It’s hard to comprehend.”

Clinton authorities reported a child’s death last weekend but have not yet determined the 7-year-old’s cause of death.

Police said the situation remains under investigation.

According to St Louis Children's Hospital

Accidents involving balloons happen in a few ways.

Some children suck balloons into their mouths while trying to inflate them. Others swallow balloons they were sucking or chewing on.

Even pieces of broken balloons pose a serious potential choking hazard because they are easily sucked into the throat and lungs.   BY MPASHO NEWS
