Bride bans parents from attending wedding after they refused to contribute

A certain unidentified lady has written to the popular Dear Jane column saying that she has decided to ban her parents from attending her romantic day.

According to the woman, the move to lock her parents out was motivated by the fact that they refused to participate in giving cash donations to make the wedding a success.

“I have always been very lucky that my parents talked about saving money for my special day.

So when I got engaged, they were obviously my first port of call, and even though I wasn’t bringing up the money issue, I was a little worried when they didn’t bring it up right away. But I thought they were just caught up in the excitement of my news and postponed the conversation for another day.”

“However, when the conversation happened, they explained that they, in fact, would not pay for my wedding. They said that they have been unlucky with their finances lately, and that, because my husband and I work high-paying jobs, they feel the onus is on us to pay for the big wedding,” she added.

The beauty said that this bothered her a lot and that her parents made jokes telling her that they could not contribute even a cent because her husband comes from a rich family.

“Then they investigated the fact that my husband comes from money, joking that ‘we would know where to go if we needed help’. I was stunned. Suddenly the wedding that I had dreamed about all my life disappeared.

They didn’t even appear to apologize! I tried to reason with them, I tried to explain my side of things, but they didn’t listen to anything,” the lady explained to Dear Jane.

The beauty said that the action annoyed her so much that she thought of banning them from attending her wedding.

“Their lack of compassion really pissed me off and I finally told them that if they don’t want to be a part of the wedding financially, then don’t bother coming.

Since then I have cut them off and I am very confident in my choice not to allow them to attend,” she said. “I don’t think they deserve to come – but maybe I’d regret not being able to have my dad walk me down the aisle?” she added.
