Job Kiptoo Tanui, a student at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Canada, died in Ontario on Wednesday, October 25, following a short illness. Nation reported that Kiptoo, who has been staying in Canada for the last two years, fell ill and collapsed before being rushed to the hospital, where he died. His uncle Silas Tanui disclosed that Kiptoo informed his landlord that he was feeling unwell before he collapsed. Tanui’s family mourn Kiptoo Silas paid tribute to the young soul, describing him as a vibrant and industrious man with a bright future ahead of him. He said they had already begun plans to bring his body back to Kenya and other burial arrangements. “It’s sad that we have lost a young vibrant hardworking man who had a bright future, and we pray that God may give us strength even as we plan on how to repatriate his body for the final rights back in Kenya,” Silas stated. Silas further pointed out that a postmortem would be conducted to figure out what killed the young Tanui. “A postmortem shall be conducted so that we can know what happened to him, but for now as a family, we are mourning a great man,” said Silas. Uasin Gishu student on scholarship in Finland found dead In a separate incident, a family in Tarakwa, Kesses sub-county in Uasin Gishu, mourned the sudden death of their kin in Finland. Rodgers Kipruto was one of the medical students who secured a scholarship through the Uasin Gishu Overseas Program to study in the Northern European nation. Confirming his death, Governor Jonathan Bii said the deceased left the country in September 2022 and was, until his demise, pursuing nursing at Laurea University’s Tikkurila Campus in Finland. Through his social media, Bii said the passing of Kipruto was a great loss to his family and the nursing profession. “The passing of Kipruto is a great loss to his family, friends, the Chirchir community, and the nursing profession. His ambition and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in society are testaments to his character. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones,” said Bii. Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru was Kipruto’s first station after graduating from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), where he had undertaken a general nursing programme.
