News

Through his Kenya Airlift Programme, the Appstec America managing director sponsors brilliant learners to study for master’s degrees in select United States (US) universities. Mwiti came from a humble background in Meru county and found greener pastures in the US.  He started it in 2018 as an international scholars programme. “Our goal is to help brilliant Kenyan students who wish to pursue various IT/Business related masters in the USA,” the Kenya Airlift Programme stated on X. How many students have benefited from Kenya Airlift Programme? According to data on its website, over 2,000 students have enrolled in US universities under the programme. Mwiti is working with over 10 US universities. So far, students have been awarded over $1 million (KSh 150 million) as graduate assistantships. The application is done online via the Kenya Airlift Programme website. After applying, one undergoes vigorous GMAT/GRE training, after which one must sit and pass the exam to proceed. If successful, one acquires relocation, tuition and living expenses funding.  “Many students with dreams of studying abroad tend to overlook the funding aspect, believing that they can handle it once they land in the US. However, this is not usually the case. Even with scholarships, one still needs finances for relocation and living expenses. The Kenya Airlift Programme is designed to empower bright Kenyan students to achieve their American dreams by offering financing and career support,” Mwiti said. How many Kenyans won the Green Card lottery? In related news, a total of 22,185,619 individuals applied for the US Green Card 2024 globally, according to the latest data. Of the total applicants, only 143,000 will get letters notifying them to apply for an immigrant visa at the various US embassies. Kenya was the biggest winner after 3760 of its citizens won the opportunity to get permanent USA residency.
