Wycliffe Oparanya: Court Orders EACC to Return KSh 2m Confiscated at Ex-Governor's House During Raid
On Wednesday, September 6, Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyuki also ordered the EACC to release other devices or documents irrelevant to the case back to Oparanya. According to Oparanya, most of the confiscated times were irrelevant to the case being investigated by EACC. “The orders did not authorise anyone to seize and carry any mobile phones and computers belonging to other persons who are not parties to the proceedings,” Oparanya said as reported by K24 TV. The ODM deputy party leader told the court that EACC went beyond the scope of the court orders when they confiscated mobile phones from his children, spouses, and workers. In his ruling, the magistrate directed the prosecution and Oparanya's legal team to have a joint meeting and agree on the relevant documents to the case. At the same time, the rest should be returned to the former Kakamega county boss.
