Side hustles are becoming a popular way for people to earn some extra cash on the side. Whether you pick up a few bartending shifts or some dog walks, it can be handy to save the extra money, but one woman has shared her unusual and possibly unsafe way of making some extra money - but she can do it in her sleep.

Aussie entrepreneur Monique Jeremiah has managed to earn £500 (AUD$985) a month from her side hustle. It may not be appealing to many, but by saving up her extra income, she’s been able go on to start her own business, a modelling company, which is her “dream career”.

The forward-thinking entrepreneur has been putting taboos to bed by renting half of her mattress out for £500 a month, which her ex had previously occupied for two years. Known as “hot bedding”, she can rack up half a grand in her sleep, and she reckons it will “be the future for property owners” as it’s perfect for her as she’s “never alone”.

“Hot bedding is excellent for people who are able to detach emotionally and sleep next to another person in a completely respectful and non-strings-attached manner. It’s the perfect situation, especially if you are a sapiosexual, like myself, and you prefer companionship over physical intimacy. It takes two people who respect each other’s space, values, and boundaries to do hot bedding ,” the 36-year-old explained. -Agencies

It’s likely not the safest way to make money and is the reason many people don’t do it, but the Aussie entrepreneur and TV star claimed it’s a lonely journey when building a business, so her unique hot bedding business tackled the issue and helped her save money in the process.

Her first customer was someone she already knew, luckily, and it got her business off to a flying start. She added: “Being an entrepreneur is already a lonely journey as you build a company, so why sleep alone when you can sleep with a companion, with someone with the same discipline and drive, while making money in your sleep? At the start of Covid in early 2020, I suddenly found myself single; my thriving business of an international education agency and student accommodation collapsed overnight, and my teaching career suddenly became unfulfilling as education went online.

“My life was literally imploding beyond my control. I knew my only option was to innovate and think outside the box, and that’s how I decided to do hot bedding. In a moment’s thought, I swallowed my pride, contacted my ex-partner, whom I hadn’t spoken to in a year, and said to him, ‘Do you want to survive Covid together?’ and to my surprise, he said yes.”       BY K24 NEWS
