Rigathi Gachagua Asks Azimio Leaders to Recognise Ruto as President After Hosting Africa Summit: "Wake Up"

 

During the International Agricultural Show in Mombasa on Thursday, September 7, Gachagua said Azimio leaders should wake up and recognise Ruto as the legitimate president. According to the second in command, the recently concluded Africa Climate Summit had placed Ruto among the key leaders in the continent.  "We want to tell leaders who were not recognising Ruto's presidency to witness his recognition as a leader in the African continent. Those who were not recognising his presidency should wake up and join other Kenyans and continental leaders to support President Ruto and Africa so that we can benefit from our foreign relations," Gachagua said. Gachagua further noted that President Ruto had identified as the one who will ensure the rest of the world respects the continent. "The outcome of the Africa Climate Summit under President William Ruto is the first step of our continent to be heard and respected on the world stage. There is strength in unity. Our president has successfully united Africa to speak in one voice," he added. Kalonzo denies reports of recognising Ruto's presidency Meanwhile, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka denied reports linked to him that the Azimio la Umoja Coalition acknowledges William Ruto and explained that he was misquoted.  The former vice-president was speaking in reference to remarks he made in Voi, where he subtly hinted at the Opposition coalition now recognising Ruto as the head of state. However, barely hours after his statement, the Azimio leader clarified that Azimio is yet to accept Ruto as the duly elected president in August 2022. Kalonzo said the Opposition faction is still pushing for a comprehensive audit of the 2022 elections. "I have noticed that a section of the media has, in the last few hours, misquoted my recent statement on the state of affairs in our country, particularly on the legitimacy of the current regime. As Azimio, we remain clear that the issues for discussion and negotiations, as framed by both teams, include, among others, a comprehensive audit of the 2022 presidential elections that, in our view, will finally settle the matter," he said.    BY TUKO NEWS
