Mark Nyamita Says He'll Ask Uriri Residents to Pay KSh 1m ODM Fine: "Kazi Nafanya Ni Yao Si Yangu"

Addressing the media in his office, the lawmaker stated that if ODM insists on him paying the fine, then he has people to count on. Nyamita stated that voters from his constituency would have to raise the KSh 1 million fine since he's been working on their behalf. The MP claimed that he had received calls from people who were willing to help him pay the fine, adding that some had paid for his transport back home. "If I'm told to pay KSh 1 million, I'll go back to my constituency. They can start a merry-go-round there to raise the money... yes, let the people there begin fundraising. Because the work I'm doing is for them, not for me. The work I'm doing is for the people. In fact, I've been receiving several calls from my constituency, saying if I need money, some of them have even sent me transport, so I'm going home over the weekend. If it comes to that, I'll tell the citizens to contribute a little because it's their work that I'm doing," he stated. Why some 'ODM rebels' weren't expelled While delivering the ODM party's National Executive Committee's (NEC) decision, the party stated that they had been granted clemency by being slapped with a KSh 1 million fine each. Nyamita and Paul Abuor of Rongo were pardoned after the committee, before which they appeared found merit in their respective explanations. "They appeared before the Disciplinary Committee in person and offered explanations which were considered by the committee should be reprimanded and directed to offer a written apology to the party within seven days. The two will be required to pay a fine of KSh 1 million each within sixty days," said the party. At the same time, reprimanded Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris for defying its position regarding the Finance Bill 2023. She was fined KSh 250, 000 to be paid within 60 days. Raila supports expulsion of members On Friday, September 8, ODM leader Raila Odinga said his political outfit would not be lenient to members elected on its ticket and later opt to dissent and support other rival alliances. Speaking in Migori, Raila faulted the errant lawmakers for going behind the party with the guise of pursuing development. He called on them to give up their seats and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate while using their new-found outfits.   BY TUKO NEWS
