Labour CS holds meeting with German officials to explore opportunities for Kenyans in Western European country
Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Florence Bore on Tuesday hosted a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany led by Dr. Joachim Stamp, Federal Government Commissioner for Migration Agreements in the Ministry of Interior & Community.
The meeting, also attended by Germany Deputy Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Alexander Fierley, according to CS Bore, was a follow-up to discussions between the two sides on the demand for skilled labour in Germany.
“Our discussions centered around opportunities available for the Kenyan worker in Germany and fostering safe and orderly labour migration between Kenya and Germany,” said Bore
During the talks, the Cabinet Secretary told the German delegation that Kenya has put in place the necessary mechanisms to guarantee regimented labour migration for the benefit of all. She cited that a task force is already in place to ensure Labour Migration thrives.
“In fostering safe, ethical and orderly Labour migration, my ministry has drafted an Agreement which will strengthen our cooperation and a framework for the employment of Kenyan Workers in the Federal Republic of Germany,” noted the CS
In March this year, President Dr. William Ruto was in Germany; his visit was followed by the German Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz coming to Kenya.
