Eric Omondi says he is ready to serve his one-month jail term

Comedian-cum-activist Eric Omondi has said he is ready to serve his one-month jail term.

Omondi alongside several others were on Friday, September 15, 2023, sentenced to one month in prison or a fine of Ksh10,000 for holding an unlawful assembly.

The judge found them guilty of not having the requisite permissions for their assembly at Parliament premises.

In his reaction, Eric Omondi demonstrated the irony and coincedence of being sentenced to a jail term for protesting against the rising cost of living at a time when fuel prices shot the highest in history.

"So today the Courts have sentenced me and these young guys to one month in prison. We have been sentenced for fighting the high cost of Living. It is also weird that the Government Increased Fuel Prices yesterday and these weirdly coincided with our Court date which is for the same fight we have been Sentenced. I am ready to serve that one month...I know Tomorrow we will be VICTORIOUS."

Omondi has recently been caught up on the wrong side of the law while protesting against the rising cost of living.

In a previous video, the entertainer broke down in tears while addressing police officers for what he termed as illegal arrests.

Eric called out the authorities claiming his rights have been infringed and he has been subjected to psychological torture.

"The Kenya Police has arrested me 4 times illegally…They have tortured me psychologically every time they do so. They have Infringed on my rights and they Enjoy it and sometimes even laugh while doing it. You can only push a man too far. "    BY K24 NEWS
