The colourful event was graced by his family, friends and colleagues from the media and Congolese Rhumba sensation Mbilia Bell performed. The Rhumba presenter shared a dance with Mbilia for a few minutes before enjoying a special dance with his beautiful wife, Sophie. The journalist, who has been in the media industry for more than 40 years, thanked his support system, wife, parents, children and other people who played a major role in his career. From family and friends to RMS bosses, they paid glowing tributes to Machoka, leaving him emotional, and at some point, he wiped tears from his eyes. Fred Machoka the best husband? "You are so many different things to me that I did not know at that time you became my husband. You're my pillar of strength, you're my hope when all is falling apart, you're the father of my children, the grandfather of my grandchildren, you’re my business partner, you're my mentor," she said. She added: "I just want to tell you, happy birthday, sweetheart. I love you and will always love you, and I'm so glad that I finally found my song in the shelter of your eyes.
