Court Clears Police To Continue Holding Suspects In Lolwe Fuel Siphoning Case

Three suspects arrested in connection with the fuel siphoning racket in Kisumu were denied bail by a Kisumu court on Friday to allow time for further investigations.

Chief Magistrate Dickson Onyango in his ruling directed that the trio be detained at the Kisumu Central Police Station for a period of 6 days.

Onyango said the court was convinced by the state application to have the three detained to allow them to have time for more investigations.

He said the alleged offenses border on economic sabotage and also loss of lives and that police will need time to prefer additional charges.

The accused were arrested following discovery of the siphoning racket in Kisumu’s Lolwe area.

The police retrieved two bodies from a tunnel inside the compound where the illegal operations were uncovered and transferred at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga teaching and referral hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The matter will be mentioned on Thursday, September 14.   BY CAPITAL NEWS
