Babu Owino Meets Mike Sonko amid Speculation of 2027 Nairobi Gubernatorial Bid: "Mtu Wangu"

The Tuesday, September 12 talks come when Babu Owino has maintained that he will become Nairobi’s fifth governor in 2027. The lawmaker elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket has expressed his confidence that he will either unseat or replace Governor Johnson Sakaja even if they go head to head in the ballot. "Leo nimemeet mtu wangu (today I have met my person) Mike Sonko after a very long time. Sonko is still a legend," Babu Owino posted on Twitter. What Mike Sonko said about Babu Owino Sonko had also taken to Instagram to share a photo of himself with Babu Owino. The flamboyant politician captioned it: "Rafiki yangu wa jadi (my longtime friend) has just paid me a courtesy call." In a related story, TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Babu Owino announced his bid to unseat Sakaja in the 2027 gubernatorial elections. Why Babu Owino believes he'll succeed Sakaja During a YouTube podcast show dubbed ‘Convo Unscripted,' the youthful lawmaker expressed confidence in clinching the coveted seat. The Embakasi East MP claimed that no elected leaders in Nairobi are currently better than him in terms of qualities.  “Look at the National Assembly now, look at Governors, look at Senators, look at Woman Reps and MCAs....is there anybody better than Babu Owino there? I’m not bragging, just tell me,” Babu said. He (Sakaja) is a placeholder...Sakaja has been put there to clean the way for me," he claimed. What is Babu Owino's track record The ODM lawmaker claimed he had three key advantages over the incumbent that would make it easy for him to be elected City Hall boss. For instance, Babu said he had a track record of working for people who elected him and that he was intelligent. “Let me ask you, if you’re a voter of Nairobi; you go to the ballot, what are the parameters to judge that I want to vote for Babu Owino or Sakaja? You’ll either say (you want) a leader who works, of course, Babu works way better. Secondly, you’ll want to say the intelligence quotient, of which Babu is at optimum. Number three utasema streetsmart (which I am)...so ni nini yenye itafanya msipigie Babu?” he posed.  BY TUKO NEWS
