Arati, Amisi Replace Defectors As ODM Suffers Onslaught From UDA

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has been named Deputy Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) days after President William Ruto wooed him to ditch the opposition party for his United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The Raila Odinga-led party made the announcement a day after the National Executive Committee (NEC) ratified the changes in top leadership slots within the political outfit.

President Ruto, while on a tour of the Gusii region, implored Arati to join the Kenya Kwanza administration and support the government’s development agenda.

Ruto attributed his political success to his decision to ditch the Raila Odinga-led party and advised the governor to follow suit.

“Simba Arati has said I was part of ODM and it is true. Because it is true, I was an ODM member, and the way I decamped, even you Simba should do the same and we work together. And you see the way I decamped, I organized myself, even you, you never know how it can work for you,” he said.

In the changes, Arati replaced Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ongera who decamped to UDA.

ODM appointed Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo as Deputy Secretary General replacing her predecessor Florence Mutua who ditched the opposition party.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi landed the post of Deputy Organizing Secretary taking over from former Kwale Woman Representative Zulekha Hassan.

Kwale Woman Representative Fatuma Masito is the new Deputy National Treasury replacing Olga Karani who fell out with Odinga after the 2022 elections.

ODM named Migori Senator Eddy Oketch Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management replacing activist Bob Njaagi.

Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda replaced former Shinyalu MP  Justus Kizito as the Secretary for Security.   BY CAPITAL NEWS
