A 40-year-old woman died in a fight with her former boyfriend over a television set in a village in Meru County.
The former boyfriend smashed the woman’s head after she allegedly tried to break into his house in Muringombugi village, police said.
The man claimed the deceased went to his house armed with a stone and started to remove a television set, welding machine, and grinder to sell them.
This prompted a fight between the two that left the woman with serious injuries in the head.
The man later reported the matter before arriving at the house where they found the woman with serious head injuries.
The suspect was detained after the Tuesday morning incident.
He told police they had differed months ago and the woman moved out of the house only for her to resurface on Tuesday.
Police said two stools, a stone, and a white tablecloth with bloodstains were recovered and kept as exhibits.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Police said the suspect was expected in court where they intended to ask for more days to enable them to complete their probe.
In Mukurweini, Nyeri County, a 34-year-old man succumbed to injuries he sustained following an assault.
Police said the incident happened in Kimondo village and that the man was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed.
A hunt for the said assailant is ongoing.
Police are investigating an incident in which a man aged 59 died after he complained of pain in Gimaran village, Serem in Vihiga county.
The deceased identified as Fanuel Gomogi was found with no visible injuries in his sister’s house.
A man had taken him to home saying he found him on the road while unable to walk home.
The body was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy to establish the cause of the death.
