Police Launch Probe Into Disappearance of Hairdresser Jane Mwende: “Alipigiwa na Client”

Mlolongo – Police officers in Mlolongo are investigating an incident whereby a 28-year-old woman went missing on August 25 after receiving a call. Source: UGC It was a typical day on Friday, August 25, and Jane Mwende was busy offering her services at the Sly Beauty Salon and Cosmetics when she stepped out to receive a call. Called by an unknown number Colleagues said she received a call from an unknown number, and when she left the salon to answer it, she never returned. “She received a call seemingly from a client and she stepped outside. We have never seen her since then. She did not come to work the following day,” Winnie Munyau, one of her colleagues, told Citizen TV. Family and friends have entered many police stations, hospitals and morgues looking for her without success. “She did not tell us anything. She went while speaking on the phone. On August 25, there was a blackout, so we assumed her phone was off,” another colleague, Jennifer Mwende said. The matter escalated when Mwende did not return to work the following morning, and on trying to reach her, her phone was switched off. Her disappearance became apparent when she failed to pick up her child from a nearby school. Sheila Chepng’etich left home around 6am on Tuesday, August 29, and never returned or communicated her whereabouts. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, her uncle Pius Kirui said her sister saw her leaving home but in civilian clothes. “Chepng’etich left her younger sister sleeping as she headed out. It was a school day, but she did not report to school that day. She did not leave with any luggage, just the clothes she had on,” Kirui said. The uncle, who said he was neighbours with Chepng’etich’s family, stated the teenager was not adventurous and would barely leave home and go for walks or visit friends.
