Though nursing the wounds of heartbreak, Edday Nderitu, the ex-wife of Mugithi maestro Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, is adapting to her new life in the United States (US).
It has been four months since her relocation to the states, initially for a tour. However, it has now become clear that she won’t return to the country.
The mother of three, who shares children with Samidoh, recently announced her divorce from the Kairitu Gakwa hitmaker.
The decision was prompted by the very public affair between the musician and the nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, which resulted in the birth of two children.

Samidoh, a police officer, also confessed to the extramarital affair before things took a turn.
A credible source close to the family suggests that Edday may have applied for asylum in the US.
An asylum is a form of protection that allows individuals to remain in the United States instead of being deported to a country where they fear persecution or harm.
Under US law, people who flee their countries due to fear of persecution can apply for asylum, and if granted, they are given protection and the right to stay in the United States, referred to as asylees.
People seek asylum in the United States for a variety of reasons, primarily related to escaping persecution, violence, or other forms of harm in their home countries.
Women and members of the LGBTQ+ community may seek asylum to escape gender-based violence, including domestic violence, forced marriage, or persecution based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Seeking asylum is a legal process, and individuals must meet specific criteria and prove that they have a well-founded fear of persecution or harm in their home country to be eligible for asylum in the United States.
Asylum seekers often undergo a thorough screening and interview process to assess the validity of their claims.
The ability to work while seeking asylum is governed by U.S. immigration laws and regulations.
To work legally in the U.S. while their asylum application is pending, asylum seekers must apply for and obtain an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), also known as a work permit. This document allows them to work legally in the United States.
In early 2023, Edday Nderitu warned the singer about his continued infidelity, even threatening to end their 15-year marriage.
True to her words, after May 2023, when she flew to the US, she followed through with the divorce.
During her stay, she was hosted by Samidoh’s cousin, Bernice Saroni, who has been providing her with support.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, a source close to the family revealed that Edday had grown tired of Samidoh’s constant cheating and made it clear that she could no longer tolerate a polygamous marriage.
The source said, “It was so painful when she told me that she would decide [if to go ahead with the divorce or not] and tell me when she was away. I knew that she was fed up, but it was hard for her to express it.”
As she looks forward to a brighter future, Edday has settled in Lowell, Boston, in the US. She has secured a job, moved into her own house, and even obtained a car.
“I am happy for her. She is very hardworking. Edday leaves work at 1 am. She works in shifts. She has hired a caregiver for her children,” the source told Nairobi News.
Interestingly, she has enrolled her children in the US education system and recently shared a photo of herself in her new home with car keys resting on a seat couch.
Edday is determined to embrace her new life in the US and leave the past behind.
