Nairobi Water announces interruption of supply following ‘major leak’

Parts of Nairobi county will be hit by a 6-hour water supply disruption starting Tuesday, August 31, Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced.

The firm says the supply interruption arises due to a major leak at Kabete Water Treatment Works Reservoir that divides into at least six water distribution pipelines around the city.

“We have a major leak at Kabete Water Treatment Works Reservoir on the Manifold outlet pipeline that requires urgent repair works. This common manifold outlet pipeline is divided into various water distribution pipelines heading to Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Riverside, Kibera and Lang’ata.

“Regretfully, we shall shut the water supply outlet from Kabete reservoir for six hours today 31 August 2023, to facilitate repair of the leak,” part of the notice read.

The areas listed for the shutdown include; areas along Waiyaki Way, Chiromo Road, Westlands, Parkands and MP Shah Hospital.

The rest are; Riverside, Lavington, Kiilimani area, and Amboseli area along Gitanga road. Nairobi Hospital Kenyatta Hospital Mbagathi Hospital and Forces Memorial Hospital will also be affected.

Areas along Ng’ong Road whole of Kibera and Lang’ata Estates will also experience the shutdown.    BY K24 NEWS
