Naivasha man takes his own life over Sh500,000 loan

Yesterday, residents of Karati village in Naivasha were dealing with the death of a middle-aged man who had committed suicide over a loan of Sh500,000.

He was discovered dead, dangling from a tree. The deceased is reported to have been coerced into acting as a guarantee for a coworker who later fled without repaying the loan.

In his suicide note, the man who worked for a Sacco stated that he was unable to repay the loan because it had not benefited him.

This occurred as the number of suicides in and around the lakeside town reached 15, with men constituting the majority.

According to village elder Isaac Ngure, the man vanished from his place of employment last week, despite efforts to find him.

According to him, members of the public happened upon the body that was hidden in a thicket and the suicide note that described all of his problems.

“The man in the note claimed to have been conned to act as a guarantor for a loan before the beneficiary went missing leaving him to pay the whole amount,” Ngure said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the discovery of a man's horribly decomposed body imprisoned in his home shocked the surrounding Nyamathi village's residents.

Uncertain of the cause of death, authorities searched for the farmer's relatives after discovering the body trapped inside the home.

The deceased was last seen a week prior to the public's arrival at the location, according to a relative who declined to be identified.

“The house had been locked from the outside and we are suspecting foul play. We hope police will help unearth the truth,” the relative said.

OCP Naivasha Both instances were corroborated by Benjamin Boen. He claimed the inquest papers had been opened and the bodies had been transported to the mortuary at the Naivasha sub-county hospital.   BY TUKO NEWS
