Murder suspect shot, arrested after dramatic chase in Nairobi
A wanted murder suspect was shot and wounded before being arrested in a dramatic chase in the Umoja area of Nairobi.
The suspect had earlier confronted police while armed with a gas cylinder and a matchbox, ready to detonate.
However, he was shot and injured in the leg before being arrested on Monday evening.
The man was wanted for murder claims in the Nairobi area, according to Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei.
The suspect was accused of killing Kelvin Kairu on August 24, 2021, and was wanted by Dandora police.
He was arrested as he tried to escape towards the Donholm area.
During the incident, two police officers were injured—one complained of pain in the jaw and the other in the hand.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment under guard, police said.
He is expected to be questioned before being charged with the aforementioned murder.
Meanwhile, a man was shot and injured in the leg during a robbery incident in Bondeni, Ngong area, Kajiado County.
The victim was waiting for the gate to be opened when two gunmen struck.
The gang ordered the man to alight prompting a confrontation that left him with a bullet wound in the left leg.
The gang shot him in the left ankle before grabbing Sh7,000 that the victim had.
They also grabbed his mobile phone and escaped into the darkness.
Police say they are looking for the gang to recover the gun they had and ensure justice in the matter.
More personnel have been sent to the area to pursue the gang. BY THE STAR
