Khaligraph Jones says Sauti Sol should charge Ksh100K for Sol Fest tickets

 

Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has expressed his firm belief that Sauti Sol should charge more for their upcoming Sol Fest event, scheduled to take place at Uhuru Gardens on November 2, 2023.

Sauti Sol initially set their ticket prices for Sol Fest at Ksh 20,000, a decision that has triggered a wave of mixed reactions among fans.

Talking to a local publication, Khaligraph didn't hold back his opinion, asserting that the ticket price is considerably low, and he was irked by it.

"Men wanilinipiss sana. Sauti Sol mliniangusha sana kuweka hio price. Yani mnawekaje Ksh20,000? , si mngeeka Ksh100,000," Khaligraph exclaimed.

He praised Sauti Sol as trailblazers and trendsetters as he acknowledged their remarkable impact on the Kenyan and African music scene.

Khaligraph emphasized that if he were to host a similar event, he would charge Ksh50,000, highlighting that Sauti Sol's brand value and influence surpass his own.

"These guys are trailblazers and trendsetters. They are the best to ever come out of this country. They are above me. Nikiwahi weka yangu nitacharge Ksh50,000, itakuwa hivyo, wenye hawataki wakae kwa nyumba but najua kuna wenye watakuja," he revealed.

Khaligraph praised the group and particularly acknowledged Bien's contributions to his career as a rapper.

"Sauti Sol ni watu wapoa ni watu wako na roho safi and each time you work with them in studio vitu huflow. Bien alinifundisha vitu kwa album, aliput on knowledge sikuwa nayo juu ya mziki, those are people I always respect. Hakuna kama hao Africa. They are the biggest to come from the continent," he added.

Furthermore, Khaligraph revealed his intention to attend the Sol Fest event and willingly pay the Ksh20,000 ticket price to demonstrate his support and respect for the group.

"I will gladly pay the 20k to show they deserve even more. Respective the OGs," he affirmed.

Khaligraph message to Ruto

Khaligraph also extended his thoughts to Kenya's political arena, suggesting that the head of state, William Ruto, should recognize Sauti Sol's immense contributions by allocating a substantial financial honorarium of at least Ksh50 million.

He argued that such an investment would not only contribute to job creation but also inspire and empower budding musicians to strive for excellence.

"Prezzo anafaa akae atoe 50 million kitty for Sauti Sol. Na akifanya kitu kama hio itareduce unemployment and inspire other musicians," Khaligraph asserted.
