Kalonzo mourns former Permanent Secretary Harris Mule
Former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka has described the late former Permanent Secretary Harris Mule as a kind public servant following his demise.
Even though the cause of the death is not known, Kalonzo remembered Mule as dedicated and honest person.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kalonzo said:"I have sadly learnt of the passing of one of our most distinguished technocrats, former PS for Ministry of Finance and Planning, Harris Mule.
"On behalf of my family and The Wiper Party, I offer my condolences to Harris Mule's family. May he rest in peace," Kalonzo said.
He said Mule was a believer in improving the lives of Kenyans and it did not matter where one came from.
"Mule's unwavering belief in uplifting all Kenyans regardless of the region they came from, was best exemplified through the District Focus For Rural Development policy that he authored.
"Two decades later, he helped put together the Economic Recovery Strategy that was the guiding pillar of economic transformation for our country in 2003," the Wiper leader added.
Mule was a Harvard University trained economist. He was revered not only because of his sense of industry in the fields of finance and economy but also because of his honesty, kindness and humility.
He was also the Founding Chancellor of the Lukenya University.
Mule served as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning from 1980-1986.
He held other positions in the ministry as well as chairing and being a member of various economic advisory committees. BY THE STAR
