Humphrey Wattanga Mulongo was yesterday sworn-in as the Commissioner General of Kenya Revenue Authority.

Oath was administered by Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi at the Supreme Court Building.
Amadi said the Judiciary will support the Commissioner to execute his mandate.

While acknowledging the big responsibility ahead of him, Wattanga promised he will live up to the oath’s specifics.

Wattanga, whose term will end in August 2026, replaced Githii Mburu, who was forced out at the end of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 (1) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, 1995, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— Humphrey Wattanga Mulongo to be the Commissioner General of Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from August 22, 2023,” Ndung’u said in the gazette notice.

Wattanga describes himself as a “seasoned corporate and public finance professional with a strong interest in the systematic analysis of transformative market opportunities and the evaluation of their potential.”

Wattanga served full-time as a Commissioner on the Commission on Revenue Allocation for six years.
