The family of Father Michael Muriuki is relieved after their kin who was allegedly abducted by unknown people was found alive.
Fr. Muriuki disappeared during his visit to his mother’s home in Mau Narok, in Njoro, Nakuru county on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
In the unfortunate incident that occurred at around 8: 00 p.m., the cleric was allegedly hijacked by unknown people and taken to an unknown destination.
Reports of the Father’s abduction made rounds for the better part of Wednesday night in an attempt to find him. Earlier today, officers who were on patrol found Muriuki’s vehicle abandoned at a petrol station near Oleken Hotel.
Later in the morning, the officers found the man of God alive with his hands and legs tied with ropes and dumped next to a nearby roundabout.
He was rushed to a nearby health facility for a medical examination to determine his health status. He is yet to reveal what transpired. Meanwhile, police are probing the incident.
“The priest was found tied with ropes near Eveready roundabout. He has been rushed to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital for examination by doctors to ascertain if he is fine. However, he appears tired and devastated following the ordeal,” Nakuru East Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commander George Momanyi said.
“His vehicle which was found abandoned at a petrol station near Ole Ken Hotel, is in good condition but appeared to have been ransacked. The vehicle was recovered around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning before he was also found alive. We have launched investigations into the incident to unravel circumstances,” he added. BY K24 NEWS
