An oncologist in New York City on Saturday shot dead her daughter before turning the gun on herself.
According to reports by online site the messenger news, Krystal Cascetta who was a cancer doctor at Mt Sinai Hospital locked the door before committing the act.
This forced her parents who were in the house at the time to break the door when they heard gunshots.
“They subsequently found Cascetta and her baby dead in the room,” the site said.
Her husband was however not in the house at the time of the shooting. The home is in Somers, a town in New York.
Even though the NCBC news says the age of the baby is unknown, the messenger says the daughter was four months old.
State police Trooper Steven Nevel told NCBC they had received a call on 911 from one of the inhabitants of the house.
The initial thought on hearing the first gunshot was that something had fallen in the child’s room.
But on hearing the second gunshot, the caller then proceeded to the room and broke the door only to find the two lying lifeless.
Cascetta is said to have been a specialist in bone, breast and gastrointestinal cancers as well as blood disorders. BY THE STAR
