Kalonzo — I have no problem with Ruto

Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has said he has no issues with President William Ruto.

This is despite him rejecting a job offered to him by the President, shortly after his victory.

Speaking to Star TV on Saturday, Kalonzo said the rejection was fueled by his principles and political objectives which include ensuring that the rule of law is observed, and democracy kept.

“Mimi sina shida na Ruto. Kila tunapokutana anasema ‘huyu ndugu yangu Kalonzo’, sina shida na yeyote,” he said.

The Wiper leader however added that he held a grudge against those who used unfair ways to ensure that they won the elections.

“Nina shida na watu ambao wanafanya maajabu yao kuhakikisha wako katika mamlaka kwa vyovyote vile. Kwa hivo nataka uelewe ya kwamba sio mambo ya kibinafsi ni msimamo,” he said.

Kalonzo maintained that he was going to remain a member of the Azimio coalition as they continue to defend the country’s democracy.

In April, Ruto revealed that he had held a closed-door meeting with the former Vice President and requested him to be part of his government.

Kalonzo however declined.

“I looked for him, we sat down and he told me he wanted to remain in the Opposition. What am I supposed to do?” he asked during a tour in Machakos.

Ruto said he was ready to work with Kalonzo if he is willing.

“Stephen is my elder brother and when he is ready to work with me, I am ready,” the Head of State said.    BY THE STAR
