Most parts of the country to remain dry - Met
The latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted that most parts of the country will remain dry.
Departments Director Dr David Gikungu said rainfall is, however, expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Coast and the Rift Valley.
“Occasional cold and cloudy conditions are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley,” Gikungu said.
Gikungu issued the latest forecast on July 19 and said it will remain valid until July 24.
He said strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25knots (12.9m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
Gikungu said Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot will on Friday and Saturday morning receive rains over few places.
Gikungu said the said counties will receive sunny intervals on Sunday morning and a chance of rains over a few places on Monday morning.
The Director said 20 counties will experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places in the afternoon.
He said the minimum temperatures in the affected counties will be five degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.
Gikungu said Turkana and Samburu will receive rain over a few places on Friday and Saturday morning and sunny intervals on Sunday and Monday.
On Friday, the two counties will receive showers over a few places before ushering Sunny intervals on Sunday and Monday.
The minimum temperature in the two counties will be 11 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius.
Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties will experience cloudy mornings from Friday to Monday.
Showers will be experienced over few places from Friday to Monday.
The minimum temperatures will be five degrees Celsius while the maximum temperatures will be 27 degrees Celsius.
Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will be sunny throughout with a chance of showers over a few places.
The minimum temperatures will be 14 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperatures will be 34 degrees Celsius.
The forecast shows that Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties will experience cloudy conditions that will usher sunny intervals.
The minimum temperatures will be eight degrees Celsius while the maximum temperatures will be 31 degrees Celsius.
Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties will experience sunny intervals before ushering in showers over a few places.
The minimum temperatures will be 21 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperatures will be 30 degrees Celsius. BY THE STAR
