Azimio Leaders Want Ruto To Engage Raila Directly
Led by Alego-Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi, the Azimio MPs say that in order to guarantee a successful and fruitful dialogue, the two leaders must be given time to meet one on one and have a direct conversation.
“We propose that the conversation happens between Raila and Ruto. Any other consultations where small people are engaged will not be trusted by the people of Kenya. The people want solutions to be found when the two engage in consultatpions,” Atandi said.
On his part, Roots party leader George Wajackoya claimed that deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, National Assembly Majority leader and Majority whip among others have been the obstacle in the bi-partisan talks.
They made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony that was organized by Raila Odinga’s bodyguard Maurice Ogeta in Rarieda constituency on Saturday.
At the event, Siaya governor James Orengo stated that they encourage dialogue but maintained that the Kenya Kwanza government must first repeal the Finance Act 2023 or suspend its operations to pave way for the negotiations.
He equally stated that as a condition, the Ruto regime must accept to compensate those who were killed and others injured during the protest, adding that those who had been arrested and charged should also have their cases withdrawn to create an enabling environment for dialogue.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo also demanded compensation to the families of those who were killed during the anti-government protests. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
