The Court of Appeal will render its decision on whether it will set aside an order suspending the implementation of the Finance Act, 2023.
Justice Mohamed Warsame, Kathurima M’Inoti and Hello Omondi set the date after Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu said the suspension of the Act is affecting government operations.
Ndungu pleaded with the court saying there will be a budgetary crisis if the order is not lifted.
Chief Justice Martha Koome has already appointed a three-judge bench that will hear and determine the case challenging the implementation of the Finance Act, 2023 filed by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.
The three are justices David Majanja, Lawrence Mogambi and Christine Meoli.
Obado case
At the High Court, the murder case facing former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and two others proceeds today.
The case has been going on for the last 9 days.
On Thursday, parties were in court as late as 7 pm with the defense team partially cross-examining the thirty-eighth prosecution witness.
The witness, a taxi driver, testified how he ferried the Late Sharon on the third of September 2018 to a thicket in Homa Bay where she ultimately met her death. She was in the company of other men.
The men, however, told him they had just dropped the late Sharon Otieno at her home only for news to break that she had been found murdered. BY THE STAR
