Students from Mashuuru Boys Secondary School in Mashuuru subcounty, Kajiado, woke up at 4 am on Sunday to protest the transfer of their new principal.

The students demanded the cancellation of the transfer of their principal Jackson Kasaine, who has since been moved to Olkejuado High School.

Kasaine, who had been transferred to the school(Mashuuru) about a month ago, is said to have reconnected with the students fast and won their hearts.

Mashuuru deputy county commissioner Baraza Wafula told the Star on Sunday, that the students walked to his office at 5 am but could not find anyone to address them.

“When they did not find me, they walked towards Kajiado town, but while on their way they changed their minds and went back to Mashuuru town,” the DCC said.

Wafula said he was away in Isinya when the students walked to his office so he was unable to address them then.

“I am in touch with the subcounty education director and I have told him to address the peaceful students and make them understand the whole situation,” the DCC said.

Wafula said he is happy with the students because they were not violent and just wanted to know why their new head was transferred to Olkejuado High School.

Area chief, Jonah Sikonkai, said the students walked through the town peacefully and went to their school’s church.

“It was a peaceful demo. They were only concerned about the transfer of their principal,” Sikonkai said.    BY THE STAR
