Azimio MPs, activists to be arraigned after weekend in police cells

Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch is among opposition politicians expected to be arraigned today after spending the weekend in police custody.

Oluoch was last week arrested as was Nairobi MCAs Peter Owera (Huruma), Peter Imwatok ( Makongeni) and Alvin Palapala (Kitusuru).

Imwatok who is also the majority leader in the Nairobi county assembly was arrested alongside his assistant Victor Obel.

Sharon Otieno murder trial to resume today

Elsewhere, the murder hearing against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two aides will proceed today.

Obado, his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby in 2018.

Last week, former Homa Bay MCA Lawrence Mula testified saying Sharon had demanded a Sh25 million house from Obado and another Sh5 million for upkeep.

He said Obado had agreed to do as Sharon wanted and thus he so no reason for the then-governor to kill her girlfriend.

Sharon’s mother Melinda Auma said Obado had wanted her daughter to abort his baby.

The trial proceeds today with a new witness expected to take the stand. Some 30 prosecution witnesses have already testified.   BY THE STAR
