Mutahi Ngunyi says withdrawal of Mama Ngina security is wrong move

 

Political pundit Mutahi Ngunyi has advised President William Ruto against the withdrawal of security from the home of former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

In a statement, Ngunyi was reacting to reports of the said withdrawal of security from Mama Ngina’s Muthaiga home.

He said the crowds planning to march to the home would attack the former first lady. He said the crowds are unreasonable.

Ngunyi warned that Ruto is no different from retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and if he allows this, it will never stop.

“Dear Ruto: Crowds are unreasonable. Today they will attack Mama Ngina in Muthaiga. Tomorrow they will look for your mother wherever she will be. No difference between you and Uhuru. If you start this trend, it will not stop. Fight as men and leave our mothers out of it. Please,” Ngunyi said.

On Tuesday, the official security detail of Mama Ngina Kenyatta was withdrawn.

An officer aware of the development confirmed to the Star the withdrawal.

“We withdrew the guards from there for some debriefing but they will be back. She is entitled to security,” said one official who asked not to be named.

He, however, did not explain the timing of their move and if it was political.

The officer said the highest authorities were aware of the developments.

The officers were reportedly recalled at 5pm on Tuesday.

They were stationed at the Gatundu (Ichaweri) and Muthaiga homes.

Mama Ngina’s security detail comprised officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) and Administrative Police (AP). 

They were ordered to report to the nearest police station.     BY THE STAR
