Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has stated that selfish interests by politicians will destroy the country.

In a statement on Friday, the ODM Senator called for the end of tribal clashes which are currently being witnessed in Kisumu and Kericho counties, warning of looming war.

The tribal clashes at the border of Kisumu and Kericho counties must end! ….There is going to be a war in this country, it is written on the wall,” Ledama added.

Ledama further called out President William Ruto and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki over the ongoing protests.

He reminded the two leaders that political power is transient.

We are getting drunk with power my friends –Kindiki Kithure and William Ruto- our own selfish interests will destroy our beautiful country!” Ledama said.

Fresh chaos erupted in Sondu along the Kisumu – Kericho border on Thursday following a long-standing boundary conflict between the two counties.

Two people died while 15 others sustained injuries on Wednesday as the anti-government protests spilt over into a boundary conflict between Kisumu and Kericho counties.

At the Nyabondo mission hospital, five people were admitted with gunshot wounds, three with critical stab wounds, and four others were brought in with arrows lodged in different parts of their bodies.

Sondu market has been hit by intermittent clashes over the years, as the Kisumu and Kericho counties differ over the location of the boundary which demarcates the two counties.     BY THE STAR
